This was the first and only thing I’ve written that found readers on the magical inter-net. As soon as this happened, I had the feeling that if only I’d known it was going to be read, I could have written it differently, and better... noting for future reference. :)
Anyway, it got a mention on The New Yorker’s website and inspired an episode of Planet Money and briefly made the top of Hacker News before falling to second, where it nestled for some hours between
a Medium post by Niko Ventouras (“Python 3 can revive Python”) and an email by Poul-Henning Kamp which called for everyone to “please admit defeat” regarding the HTTP/2 protocol. Longform later chose the story as one of its ten best of 2014.
